Job Summary:

The LMFT conducts risk assessments and participates in the initial needs assessments for residents. This position is responsible for identifying the appropriate treatment package for residents, coordinating and delivering appropriate therapeutic services, working with the interdisciplinary team to identify goals and monitor on-going progress, writing reports, providing training and coaching to the interdisciplinary team, and providing periodic reviews of resident performance. The LMFT will also be responsible for securing resources in the following areas: individual & group psychotherapy, Project Connect, medication support and utilize services through the Substance Abuse and Crime Prevention Act (Prop 36) when available and appropriate. This position requires 25% of traveling. 

 

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of CBT, DBT, Humanistic Psychology, and Individual/Group Psychotherapy
  • Must understand appropriate treatment packages for treating substance abuse
  • Needs to have knowledge of Regional Centers and state and federal laws
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, multi-tasking skills, time management skills, organizational skills, leadership skills, independent judgment and decision making skills
  • Ability to lead and develop staff, ability to work with clients with behaviors, ability to work with a diverse population, problem solving, teaching, teamwork, interact effectively with management, detail oriented, positive attitude, self disciplined, and have the ability to maintain confidentiality

 

Education and Experience:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited institution
  • Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California
  • CPI, CPR & First Aid certifications
  • Must have at least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities who have severe behavioral problems and histories of forensic involvement
  • Must meet all requirements set forth in Title 17 regulations, Section 54342 (53)
  • Must be approved by the CA Sex Offender Management Board
  • Must have at least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities who have severe behavioral problems and histories of forensic involvement
  • Must demonstrate expertise of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Professional experience with CBT, DBT, Humanistic Psychology, Individual/group psychotherapy

 

Essential Functions:

  • Interviews clients and coordinates programs and activities to meet their needs
  • Provides risk assessments and counseling to individuals
  • Specializes in the treatment of substance abuse
  • Act as a liaison and advocate in the court system, if needed
  • Available to the Administrator to assist/debrief  with case specific issues
  • Conduct in-service training
  • Maintain a log of consulting hours
  • Regular travel will be required
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required

Physical Requirements:

The LMFT typically works out in the field traveling to and from assigned locations. Frequent standing, twisting, reaching, walking, driving, typing, grasping, talking, listening, bending, squatting, hearing and repetitive motions are required. Occasional lifting of at least 50 pounds, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, traveling, kneeling, running and crouching are required.

 

Other Requirements:

The position will require a valid California Driver License, 5 years of continuous driving, Must be at least 21 years of age, No more than 3 points on Driving Record, No DUI, in order to drive for People's Care vehicles. The candidate must successfully pass all pre- employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check and pre- employment physical. If required to drive the candidate must possess proof of valid insurance and registration.
